Position Summary:

This new role will support the company in its acceleration of growth and organizational excellence. The Accounting Manager will report to our Chief Financial Officer. We are looking for someone who is curious, eager to partner, and embraces our core values.

As the Accounting Manager, you will be instrumental in building an accounting function that is a critical partner in a high growth insurance technology business. Areas of responsibility will include AR, AP, cash management, payroll, fixed assets in accordance with GAAP. You will provide guidance on technical accounting questions and help evaluate the financial reporting requirements of new initiatives. The position offers the opportunity to grow and advance within a quickly growing department and organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of Chart of Accounts to support Management and External reporting.
  • Manage company-wide transaction processing.
  • Oversee the month-end close process and procedures and drive improvements in process.
  • Develop and deliver meaningful financial reporting to enterprise-wide budget owners.
  • Assist in the improvement and maintenance of core accounting processes and principles.
  • Build and manage an Accounting team, ensuring professional growth and accountability aligned with needs of the company.
  • Manage annual audits by preparing reconciliations, support schedules and develop on-going readiness plans for future audits.
  • Support tax filing and growth of requirements as jurisdictions are added.
  • Evaluate and manage implementation of new finance technology platforms to support growth and improve capabilities.

  • Generous with time spent building relationships with team members, partners and customers.
  • 5+ years accounting management experience is required.
  • CPA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using computers and other office productivity tools, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
  • An appreciation for a transparent, open and honest working environment.

  • Work Schedule: Full time. Position pay require employee to work various shifts as necessary to support company objectives.
  • Occasional travel (less than 25%) might be required.
  • Work Location: Covered’s headquarters in Denver, CO. Position is eligible for remote work upon employee meeting certain criteria.
