Total Expert and Covered Launch Embedded Homeowners Insurance Journeys for Mortgage Lenders

As part of the Expert Partner Network, Covered’s homeowners insurance experience connects with Total Expert's dynamic customer Journeys. This allows lenders to initiate insurance shopping through automated, compliant borrower communications within Total Expert's existing customer engagement platform.

Insurance has become harder to manage inside mortgage operations as it often shows up late, varies by borrower, and requires time-sensitive documentation. That leads to higher origination costs, lower CSAT, and premium-driven DTI issues, which can cause last-minute rework or loan fallout. This integration provides a repeatable workflow to introduce insurance earlier and track completion of key insurance steps within the same borrower engagement motion lenders already use throughout the mortgage process.

How it works 

Through Total Expert Journeys, lenders can:

  • Trigger an insurance step at key milestones (for example: early in the application process, during processing/underwriting, or pre-close), based on the lender’s preferred Journey design.
  • Direct borrowers to shop for homeowners insurance through Covered’s guided experience.
  • Track progress and completion through Journey-driven communications and status visibility, helping teams follow up consistently when documentation or next steps are outstanding.

What’s different for lenders

Rather than handling insurance as a separate, ad hoc task, the integration is built to create a seamless, standardized experience:

  • Insurance communications with borrowers can be automated and managed within the existing Journey structure lenders already use, offering flexibility and keeping the Loan Officer front and center.
  • The approach can be applied across the borrower lifecycle where insurance matters - originations, renewals and other servicing-related outreach through Journeys.
