Position Summary

Covered is seeking an experienced, energetic and wickedly smart FP&A talent to join our fast-growing business. This role is a critical role and extraordinary opportunity to provide strategic financial guidance, driving business performance, and supporting decision-making to fuel our company’s growth trajectory. Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis - Fintech/Insurtech, is primarily responsible for overseeing Covered’s (“Company”) financial analytics and forecasting platform and will be a key partner in analyzing strategic growth opportunities that will drive profitable growth for the company. The successful talent will help develop new processes and tools to improve the FP&A platform as well as overseeing the functional cadence on a day-to-day basis. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of the Company's business activities, as well as the various industries the Company operates in. Furthermore, the Director of FP&A must understand best practices for aggregating, translating, and presenting information, including budgets, KPIs, financial reports, business activity and forecasts, and other data commonly associated with an FP&A platform. This role will hold responsibility for translating business activities into financial schedule and detailed analysis to help support decision making The successful individual comes out of a Private Equity and/or Financial Services environment with experience in financial services and possesses extraordinary modeling expertise. Preference will be directed to candidates with M&A, corporate development, strategic growth, and reporting experience with remarkably strong analytical skills. The talent filling this position is expected to bring creativity, ability to conceptualize and model new untested solutions, and continuous learning and improvement. In addition this talent must be able to take seemingly complex situations and simplify them down to a few primary themes, drivers, or and outcomes. The role requires a talent who is highly motivated, a self-starter, deeply curious, and able to effectively communicate and collaborate with a small, but highly effective team in a growing organization. Position Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the CFO and take charge of the build out of robust financial models and analyses to support strategic business decisions including complex partnerships, investments, and M&A
  • Oversee the Company's FP&A platform for including managing all deliverables and assisting with communicating performance to Company leadership
  • Manage the annual planning calendar for including budget creation and quarterly re-forecasts, capital spend planning, and reporting cadences
  • Assist with building out the business intelligence platform and eliminating all manual performance reporting
  • Assess the company's current financial and operational data platform and help create strategies to improve processes for capturing important data and making it available in the company's reporting and Business Intelligence platforms
  • Perform recurring and ad hoc analyses
  • Research FP&A software and methodologies and help create the company's Fintech roadmap
  • Maintain the company's LOB performance reporting such as budget comparisons and financial forecasting, including the company's investment performance
  • Perform scenario analysis to better understand potential opportunities or risks regarding new strategies or changes in cost structure
  • Board preparations and external reporting to include narratives and analyses.
  • Support financial analysis to include development and tracking of KPIs, executive dashboarding, preparing financial reports and driver based analysis, rolling forecasts and cross-departmental analytics
  • Manage the equity and option record-keeping process
  • Perform partner profitability and ROI analysis and support the Business
  • Development team in communicating these to channel partners.
  • Oversight of offshore resources; Management and oversight of FTE’s as required
  • Research current and future supplier and partner contracts and prepare analysis around financial impacts of potential alternative contract structures
  • Conduct industry and competitive research and analysis
    Support annual 409A valuation and annual audit requirements as necessary
  • All other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related business field
  • 6+ years of relevant professional work experience including experience in corporate development, investment banking, venture capital, transaction advisory, or private equity
  • Experience with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to drive business initiatives and strategic decision-making
  • Experienced with cash flow analysis (i.e. forecasting, billing types, delivery, collection cycles, etc.)
  • Experience in problem solving through statistical analysis or manipulating and evaluating large data sets preferable
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation, agility, and continuous improvement
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines
  • Are the model of proficiency with Excel to include keen understanding of functions, pivot tables and data analysis tools.
  • Present exceptional professional acumen to include written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of computers and other office productivity tools, with aptitude to learn new software and systems
